A joining technology subjected to continuous advancements.
Just like aluminium, adhesives are lightweight yet resistant. Therefore welding processes are increasingly being replaced by bonding.
Connecting sheets and profiles through bonding is particularly suited for manual machining because first-class results are achieved even without a welding machine and the full material strength is retained.
Bonding has even more advantages over welding: no welding distortion, no stress in the material structure, no risk of corrosion in the joints; furthermore, various materials can be combined with each other (for example, aluminium with stainless steel).
In addition, high-strength Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys that cannot be welded can also be joined.
This process technology becomes important above all in aerospace technology and manufacturing automobiles and commercial vehicles.
